Estrogen Therapy: Estrogen Creams

All women will experience menopause. This is just a fact of life and it is a natural process that nobody can control. Menopause generally starts to occur in women after the age of 40 although many women don't experience it until much later in life. Although we all know that we will have to go through menopause we are not always sure of exactly what that entails.

When women experience menopause what they are actually experiencing is a decline in ovarian function. Most women are unable to have children at this point in time although some women are still capable of giving birth to so-called menopausal babies.

When women start to enter the menopausal period estrogen levels are highly affected. This is the main hormone that affects our female reproductive system. When estrogen levels drop there are various symptoms that we will experience.

In order to help curb some of these symptoms many women rely on using estrogen alternatives to help keep their estrogen levels up. One method is to use an estrogen cream. Estrogen creams have been proven effective in helping women to maintain a hormonal balance during menopause and even well after menopause. It is important to use the cream as prescribed by your doctor in order to prevent serious risks that can occur by misusing this product.

One of the main symptoms that women use estrogen creams for is to reduce the dryness of the vaginal area. Menopause causes vaginal dryness which often leads to itchiness and irritation which is not good for a woman. This is one major reason why women choose to use an estrogen cream, especially ones made of natural ingredients.

You can only get estrogen creams with a doctor's prescription. Your doctor will examine you and determine your current hormone levels and will give you a dosage to use. If you use too much or too little you will experience negative side effects, especially if you are using the cream to treat vaginal dryness.

Many women are very happy with the success they have had in using estrogen creams to help with the symptoms they experience with menopause. Although there are many benefits there are also risks involved when using estrogen creams. Excessive use can increase your risk of malignant melanoma and other cancerous diseases.

If you are experiencing pre-menopausal symptoms there are a variety of estrogen alternatives that are available. One of the most common methods among menopausal women for treating these symptoms is to use an estrogen cream. This method is especially successful in reducing vaginal dryness. Estrogen crèmes should never be used without a doctor's prescription, and you should always follow the dosage recommendation in order to prevent unwanted side effects. Be sure that you are aware of the possible side effects of using an estrogen cream. It is important that you have weighed the benefits against the risks.
