Estrogen Therapy: Foods that Contain Natural Estrogen

All women need estrogen. It is an important hormone that is responsible for maintaining a regular menstrual cycle that should come every 28 days. If your body is not producing estrogen then you will experience menopause or stop experiencing menstruation at all.

 

Most women experience a loss of estrogen when they become older. However, women still produce some estrogen even after menopause because estrogen is what maintains a female's sexual functions. But if your body cannot produce estrogen at all there are some foods that you can eat that contain natural estrogen. There is a variety of types of foods such as herbs, fruits and vegetables that are a great source of natural estrogens that can be very useful to the female body during menopause. Not only do these foods provide estrogen to menopausal women they are also great sources of minerals, vitamins, fiber and essential fatty acids. The fatty acids are also low in saturated fat so they are very healthy foods to eat.

Here are a variety of foods that you can eat that contain pure and natural estrogens that are good for women.

Fruits such as apples, dates , cherries and papaya

Vegetables such as clover, cucumbers, eggplant, barley, carrots, garlic, , peppers, licorice, peas, parsley, pomegranates, potatoes, pumpkin, rhubarb, soybean sprouts, red clover, and tomatoes

Seeds such as cowpeas (black eyed peas), anise seeds, chickpeas, flaxseeds, split peas red beans, sesame seeds, soybeans, and sunflower seeds

Other foods such as alfalfa, meats, baker's yeast, beets, dairy products, fennel, hops, oats, dates, eggs, rice, sage, wheat, olive oil, olives, plums, and yams

All of these foods listed above contain different levels of natural estrogen. Many women who are pre-menopausal are actually advised to eat some of these foods on a daily basis to help regulate the estrogen levels in their bodies. There are a variety of other reasons why women have lower estrogen levels who are also advised to intake these foods.

Before you start incorporating these foods heavily into your diet you should consult your doctor. Your doctor is generally the best source to get information about estrogen imbalance and possibly starting a diet of estrogen rich foods. However, you can also get information about it on the internet. There are various websites that are dedicated to helping women understand the need for hormone balance and what they can do if they are experiencing an imbalance. It is also important to note that eating these foods in your regular diet will not throw off the balance of your estrogen levels. Most people eat at least one or two of these foods on a daily basis. It can start to have an effect on your estrogen levels when you are eating a diet that only consists of these foods.
