Estrogen Therapy: Precautions for Estrogen Supplements

However, there are some things that all women who are considering taking estrogen supplements need to be aware of. There are some side effects that may be unpleasant and actually life threatening.

Most estrogen supplements are natural but taking them is not always safe. Taking them can actually lead to disorders such as heart failure and bone loss. Before taking any type of supplement, especially estrogen supplements, you need to consult your doctor first. Do not experiment on your body thinking that you will do no harm. This could prove to be a very dangerous decision to take estrogen supplements without first consulting your doctor.

However, taking estrogen supplements can be very beneficial for many women. They can help treat hormonal imbalances that many women experience. They can also help to treat problems women experience such as menstrual migraines which can also be a symptom of menopause.

The most common estrogen supplement that helps women achieve hormonal balance is Premarin. The main ingredient in this supplement comes from the urine of a pregnant mare which contains many types of estrogen. However, only half of the estrogens found in Premarin actually occur naturally in humans. You need to consult your doctor before taking this because some people's bodies are not suited for this supplement. If you take this supplement and it is not suited for you can experience some negative side effects. You may experience bloating and swelling in random parts of your body. You may also become very irritated and agitated without any reason. It may also lead to depression.

However, if your body is suited for this supplement and you take the proper dosage that you probably will experience great results. If you follow the advice of your doctor you will be able to help prevent the possible negative side effects that can occur from estrogen supplements. Always keep in mind that estrogen supplements are not always safe. That is why it is so important to talk to your doctor and keep consulting with him throughout your treatment.
